Resources for Entering Students

The Dartmouth Institute welcomes all of the incoming MPH Residential and Online Students! Below you will find a list of resource ranging from tutorials and frequently asked questions, to downloadable software and installation guides. Please use this resource list, as well as TDI Computing’s knowledge base as a starting point for answering your questions and satisfying your computing needs.

  • Connecting to WIFI (Dartmouth Secure)
Instructions for connecting your computer to Dartmouth’s private wireless network.
  • Connecting to WIFI (EduRoam)
eduroam (education roaming) is the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community. eduroam allows students, researchers and staff from participating institutions to obtain Internet connectivity across campus and when visiting other participating institutions by simply opening their laptop.
  • Dartmouth VPN
You will need to use Dartmouth’s VPN to access Dartmouth resources remotely as well as for authenticating keyserved licenses while using certain applications on a network other than Dartmouth Secure. The installers can be found in the “Getting Started” section.
  • Email Setup
Instructions for setting up your Dartmouth email account with the Microsoft Outlook email client as well as select, mobile email clients

  • Locked Out of Account
When users can’t log in, there are two different error messages they get, which gives a hint to where the issue may be. The content of the error message will be similar but the key indicators that will allow TDI Computing to expedite your issue will be the following terms:

    • “Not Recognized”
This means that the password they have entered for their NetID is incorrect, or that their account in Active Directory has been locked (probably due to number of incorrect password attempts).
First, visit and attempt a self service password reset. If this is not successful, see below.
    • “Not Authorized”
This means their account is locked in OAAM due to failed attempts at security questions, but it does mean they are using the correct password. The users security questions will need to be reset. Resetting the password will NOT clear the lockout in the security questions.

Please note which error you have received and see a member of TDI Computing directly or via our Contact Page. We will facilitate the reset of your account through the appropriate  channels.
